It has often been said that The Stranglers are probably the most enduring band of the UK punk/new wave era, scoring some 23 UK top 40 singles and 17 UK top 40 albums to date in a career spanning four decades. Their appeal stretches far and wide with a number of present day bands citing them as an influence.
